Terms of Service

Last updated August 1, 2026
Letter is licensed under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement. That agreement is the governing app license; this page summarizes product and subscription terms for clarity.

Using Letter

The current Letter app is for writing local letters to your future self for a date you select. It does not currently provide accounts, server delivery, or delivery to another person. By using Letter, you agree to use it lawfully and in accordance with Apple's Standard EULA.

Your letters, your words

You retain ownership of what you write. The current Letter app stores letter content locally on your iPhone and does not claim ownership of it. See the Privacy Policy for the current data behavior.

Subscriptions and billing

You can write and keep drafts without subscribing. Sealing requires Letter+. Letter+ is offered as two auto-renewing subscriptions: Weekly ($4.99/week, no free trial) and Yearly ($29.99/year). Eligible new Yearly subscribers may receive a 7-day introductory trial; Apple determines eligibility and shows the final offer before purchase. All payments are processed through the App Store, so Letter does not receive or store your payment-card details.

  • Your subscription automatically renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings.
  • If you receive the Yearly trial and do not cancel before it ends, Apple charges the displayed Yearly subscription price.
  • Prices can vary by storefront, tax, or currency; the App Store purchase sheet is the final price presented to you.
  • Letter does not offer a monthly or lifetime tier.

Delivery

The current version stores and evaluates delivery state locally on your iPhone. A self-letter that becomes due while Letter+ is inactive remains sealed in a held state and becomes available after Letter+ access is restored. Notifications and arrival behavior can depend on the app being opened, the iPhone, iOS settings, and Apple services. Do not use Letter for emergency, legal, medical, financial, or other time-critical communication.

Local data

The current version does not create a Letter account. Its saved letters are eligible for normal Apple device or computer backups, and offloading the app can preserve local data for reinstall. Deleting Letter normally removes its app and shared widget data from that iPhone, while a backup can retain a restorable copy according to your Apple backup settings. There is no Letter-operated server copy to restore. See the Privacy Policy for details.

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
